I was unfortuate enough to get snookered into seeing this farce opening night. My wife and I were bored to tears, and we have no intention of seeing it again on DVD.

After a great first half an hour it just went downhill for me. Now where near as thrilling or as fun as Fast An The Furious. As for the DVD theres a review here at www.dvdfile.com

I've always liked the old XXX movie previews, the laserdisc of The Jade Pussycat has some vintage XXX trailers at the end- Oh, you mean that movie called "XXX" that has nothing to do with porn, never mind :D

I would have to *guess* there will be a Superbit version; something to think about it before purchasing this release.

Since I did not see an official XXX Discussion Thread:

One big problem I have with this DVD is why did they put the subtitles below the picture, (in the black bar)? I doubt it was shown this way in theaters.

Absolutely awful, and I don't say that about many movies.

In fact I usually like movies like XXX,

I'm not sure if it was the lame plot or Vin Diesel, but something about this movie really irritated me

so what's the idea of calling it XXX, try and con people in to thinking there gonna see some good porn? The novelty of a porno sounding name can't hide the fact that it's a lame movie. What are they gonna call the sequal, can't wait.

Working title for the sequel is XXX2.

Unlikley, since the entire promotional campaign made it clear that this was a big-budget action film.

I liked the film, but I thought that the DVD left much to be desired.

For a big-budget Summer action film, the Dolby track on this release is very boring. Not enough usage of the surrounds, it seemed that most everything (including most of the music) was confined to the front sound stage.

Also the transfer wasn't stunning, but wasn't BAD either. Just a ho-hum transfer, probably made by Columbia thinking that the only people who would be picking this film up was going to be teens. Too bad, as this could have made an excellent audio and video presentation disk.

Here's hoping for a Superbit.

Movies like this made me sad. In the seventies and eighties, you had great action films with plenty of shootouts and car chases, but they didn't CONSTANTLY insult your intelligence the way movies like XXX do. There is no reason why you can't have an action movie with semi-believable characters and an intelligent plot, in fact those things only heighten interest in the action because they make the whole thing seem more real. But Hollywood has learned that the vast majority of viewers now will eat up any old shit they churn out, no matter how stupid, as long as it is hyped loudly enough.
Action movies have a great future behind them. (Come to think of it, that goes for Hollywood movies in general.)

IGN's review pretty much hits it on the head. In the thread asking if there will be a superbit xXx, I too raved about the DD mix.
The blacks are a little wierd and I kept wondering if my brightness was too low. Then the scene would switch and all was good again.
If you buy/rent this as a serious thriller (like a Tom Clancy film), you will be seriously disappointed.
If you like James Bond, Goldmember, and the Fast & Furious, you'll probably enjoy this flick. There are some really funny scenes in this. As dumb as this film is, there's some stunts in here that are very, very cool.
If you like testing your HT's audio output, this DVD is a definite winner.:)

Absolutely the worst movie I have seen in a while. Did you see how cheesy the "heatseeker" missile launcher that Vin Diesel used looked towards the end of the movie? It looks like some kid in 8th grade made it out of cardboard & an old camcorder :)

No Steve, I wasn't kidding.

Maybe I was expecting too much out of this DVD, but I remembered it being a very active mix in the theater, and I found the DD track on the DVD to be quite the opposite.

If they do decide to release a Superbit edition, hopefully the mix will be better than the DD present on this version of the DVD.
