The laserdisc has some nice extras which include an directors commentary and an behind the scenes feature. I think that Criterion owns the right to them. I own the laserdisc and the DVD. The DVD looks much better than the laserdisc but I think the dvd is non-anamorphic and no extras. This is one of my favorite films. I would love to see Billy Bob write a sequel.

I think a prequel would be better. It would be hard to write a sequel unless it was "The days of Carl Childers in the Nervous Hospital" or something to that effect. Has anyone seen, "Some Folks Call It a Slingblade?" It has Molly Ringwald in it and it's all black and white. I wish the DVD had more features to it. I want to hear the Director's commentary and what-not. I loved this movie so much that I actually watched it 8 times in one week, just so I could show friends and the like. This is definately Billy Bob's best film.

Has anyone seen "Swing Blade"? A hilarious cross between Swingers and Sling Blade.

Scott,
I have the "George Lucas in Love DVD" that has that preview on it. It's just a preview and not a real movie. It also has "Film Club" on it. A trailer parody of Fight Club, only with... film.
We should start a Sling Blade Quote thread. Now that would be funny!

I am curious if any new rumors are floating around about this title. I saw it in Best buy on 4-13 and almost bought it, but I would rather wait on an SE if it is coming.

I still haven't heard of anything. I ended up buying the current release which looks pretty good (non-anamorphic). If you don't want to spend too much money on it, but still want it, I suggest getting this title though a Columbia House enrollment.

Here we are in the middle of April 2002, and still not a hint regarding an SE being released!
Who owns the rights to this movie? Perhaps some type of petition is in order???
I must have a special edition of this DVD!

Those who want a "Sling Blade" SE reissue should direct your attentions to Buena Vista, which owns the movie under the Miramax label. Requests for a Vista Series release would be appropriate, I believe!

"Now you know I can't so much as eat around a midget or a piece of antique furniture."

"I thought the dot, dot, dot came between medulla and oblongata."

"Randy, you tunin' son of a bitch!"

OK, back to topic: I'd love to see a rerelease. I remember seeing "Some Folks Call It A Slingblade" on A&E awhile back - foul language and all. I can't quite get used to Molly Ringwald in that role...
