is there anything I can buy or do to make regular cable and satellite look better? I still have to calibrate but aside to that is there anything I can do to the signal i.e. upconvert?

You could pass it through an HTPC and use DScaler with some filters, and then back to your TV. This would require a tuner outside of your TV though.

    Greetings

I do something more simple like feeding my satellite through a DVDRAM recorder unit that upconverts all signals to 480P ... but also adds time based correction to the original signal to make it more stable than the source.

A minor improvement to the source material.
