Hey Brian,
I really like the Level III's. That being said, I'm not too high on the Level II's. We've got a left/center/right combo of HTD Level II's that we are finishing the reveiw on right now. They are very cheap, and for the money they aren't bad, but I don't think you'll be satisfied with the Level IIs.
The Level III's, especially their new tower, are certainly impressive though.
Check our site for a review on their towers, and check back shortly for the Level II review.

Brian, I just got the Level III 5.1 set with two floor-standing speakers (I think it's combo Y on their site) and so far I'm very happy with my purchase (save for some receiver problems I'm working out). I don't it has to do with the speakers, which are of top-notch quality.
Like Joel said, check out their review of the towers.

Ever seen(heard?) of Level III's in a six-figure theater? Check out the equipment pages here on HTF for Patrick Bennet's theater. I think it's actually the featured theater. It is an incredibly-detailed front projection room, complete with dry bar, leather recliners, 8ft screen(possibly bigger?), and temporarily has the front (LCR) sounds coming from HTD level III's. I was completely impressed with the sound which blended well with the (I'm sure quite more expensive) M&K rears. I believe Patrick is planning on upgrading to M&K fronts, but he is not lacking anything with the HTD's.

How would you say these compare to nOrh? The race seems to be pretty even between HTD, nOrh, and Ascend Acoustics for me. Can anybody point out any benefits one of these rigs has over the others?
Thanks!

We haven't had any nOrh speakers in for test, although we've just recently contacted them about getting a review unit.
Update - Just received word from nOrh that we are going to get a 4.0 review unit, but they are currently low on supply and it will be 2 -3 weeks.
The HomeTheaterDirect speakers hold an edge in the world of home theater. I really like the way they sound, my personal favorites.
The Ascend Acoustics are more musically geared in my opinion. I personally don't listen to much 2 channel (or 5 channel) music, mainly home theater. If I was 50/50 music and theater, I would probably get the Ascends. If I was 75/25, I would get the HomeTheaterDirects.

Just wanted to put my vote in for the HTD 5.1 set. I have a few pics of the system (no sub pic yet) up on my link.

As a long time owner of the 4.0's, I would say definitely use them with a quality sub. They are very easy to blend & sound great with a sub, but don't have enough bass on their own to really stand up to a bigger speaker with a bigger woofer. From the upper bass and up they are very good, IMO, but without any midbass at all, music will suffer w/out the use of a good sub. But I am of the opinion that they blend better with subs than most speakers do, mainly because they don't seem to have a bass "hump" engineered in to the response between 100 and 50hz, which seems endemic to bookshelf speakers in this price range. Personall I think the 4.0's blend especially well with the SVS subs, a combo I own & find particularly synergistic, although I would like to hear them w/ a HSU VTF-2).

I own a set of HTD Level III's as well--2 pairs of bookshelf mains and the center speaker. I am very happy with their product. Considering I only paid $517 shipped for all 5 speakers, I'd say it's a pretty damn good deal. They all offer rich, natural sound that surpasses what you think a $200/pair speaker should do. Add a good sub to the mix (I have an SVS 16-46PC) and you're in budget home theater heaven.

I don't have any thoughts on the HTD's, I just wanted to say congrats to Patrick on a sensational home theater. Very nice stuff there, and the presentation with the materials (great wood work btw) and the lighting are great.
Thanks for sharing...
