i seem to find alot of reviews of Rocket's front and center speakers, but i can't seem to find a good evaluation of their dipolar surrounds. if anyone has had any experience with them, i'd love to hear it.

also, i was looking at Axiom's "quadpolar" QS8 speaker. how much more enveloping would a soundfield be if a speaker used woofers firing up and down (as opposed to a "normal" dipole design with the tweeter and woofer simply firing opposite each other, like in the Rocket setup)? would it be significant?

and finally, would anyone be for or against "mixing" surround speaker brands with a different brand front? thanks for your help.

Scott ... We have The RSS-300's in surround use now, and they are excellent... and I have no doubt the Axioms are, as well. The key to good surrounf for movies is that you cannot locate sound from the actual speakers... yet the sound effects you DO hear are very distinct.

The RSS-300's succeed in this VERY well... and the rest of the system is RS-1000's mains, RSC-200 center, and ACI Maestro's for bass...

As far as mixing different surrounds, The Axioms would likely sound ok ... but there is ALSO something to be said for everything LOOKING good together, too...
