I held off on buying the trilogy when it was first released, and next tuesday, May 21st, sees the release of the "special edition" box set. Has anyone seen any reviews for the set yet. With it coming out next week, you'd think there would be.

Our review set just arrived yesterday. Expect reviews to pop up on various sites over the next few days...

Looks like new widescreen transfers and the inclusion of DTS soundtracks.

Hmmm... it's been a while since I've seen these three films. Maybe it's time for a rental.

Received my review copy a few days ago,

but it will take about a week to get through it.

We will have an in-depth review up Tuesday evening.

Looking forward to the reviews, Ron. I really liked First Blood, and would enjoy owning a high quality transfer of that flick.

This is not a full review, as frankly, it
will take me three days to watch the movie and
go through all the material.
I can tell you this now...
I watched FIRST BLOOD last night.
Other than the fact that the picture is a tad
dark, It looks simply incredible. One of the
best catalog transfers I have seen. Even the
DTS surround is quite good.
I have the 3 more discs to get through and
should have a review up on Tuesday afternoon.

i just picked up the new special edition at walmart yesterday in the bargain bin for $5.88. it was the only one in there so i figured it had to be a mistake? the date on the box is 2002. and it has the DTS and wide screen so it has to be the new one . right?

I would be curious to know if Artisan addressed the lack of Russian subtitles, which I believe affected both Rambo II and III?

Given that its Artisan we're talking about, I doubt it. I have to admit, I've been tempted by the low price, but I've decided to make it a point not to buy DVDs with known quality control issues as it just serves to reinforce studios opinions that they can release slipshod product.
