i usually listen to internet-radio while at work, but i'm getting bored with the channels i listen to.
does anyone have recommendations for some good sites? i listen to pretty much everything except country or rap. everything else is game: 70's, 80's, disco, alternative, rock, electronica, dance, classic-rock, etc.

The only one I listen to is 98online.com It is the latest rock and some classic rock. I don't know any others. Go with WIN MEDIA since sometimes real jukebox freezes for a few seconds.

i used to live in LA and loved listening to KCRW. everytime i hear the innocence mission i think of that station! they had a nice eclectic (sp?) blend. i'm definitely gonna check that out!
btw - a friend found a good link on the microsoft site. it's www.windowsmedia.com. it actually has a very broad selection of radio stations. found some good stuff so far...

    ryan -
click here then click on the "launch radio tuner" graphic.
it'll bring up a window where you can sort by genre...lots of stuff in the rock/alternative category.
i've been messing with it off and on the whole day. some sites are really good, others make you go to their site first, etc. some don't load, blah blah blah...but overall a really good selection!
www.cyberradio2000.com is also a pretty good site.

Take a spin over to www.vinylfm.com (but there is a free registration required using a Canadian postal code like " N6E 1W4" (hint, hint) [IMG] ) then click on 'Signature series' and check out 'Jive International' withthe Live Earl Jive....also worth a visit is www.wdetfm.org (NPR from Detroit) an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, world and electronica ... if you use the chaincast tuning page ( http://209.249.249.170/1/betatune.html ) it usually provides better quality sound than the Quicktime option.
    hope this helps

I have yet to get bored, as they have 30,000+ stations to listen to. Some only have loops a few hours long, but I have found many with playlists that don't repeat for a few days, and even some that don't have set playlists.

Start with some of the Editor's picks stations.

I haven't spent much time checking out streaming radio stations, but I have found one that I like: Radio Paradise. They bill themselves as "eclectic intelligent rock."

One of the local independent stations here, 97X, is very good.
If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might also check out 3WK. Some of their playlist is a little too alternative, even for me. [IMG]
