I'm looking for some recommendations, I'm dying to see something new, that doesnt suck hopefully. I'm trying to find myself some movies about the same time period as Boogie Nights and Wonderland. (I know some of you might not like those but bear with me). I'm just trying to find some flicks that are based on the 1960-70s hollywood type genre. Anyone have any good recommendations? I'm sick of wathcing the same movies overs and over again, cause the more I watch, the more I dislike them. So can anyone help me out?

Thanks
Bob

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘1960-1970 Hollywood Type’ genre. The two films you list are about porn stars. In that vein you might consider American Gigolo with Richard Gere in the title role and Lauren Hutton as the hooker, love interest.

If you are only looking for films about 60’s-70s porn industry in Southern California, you have limited options. Can you give us anything else that you like? Some more examples would be helpful.

You could also check out Sex: The Annabel Chong Story, although this takes place in the 90s, is a documentary about a porn star on a quest to break the ‘sex with the most men in one day’ record (really it is about much more than that). She is from Singapore, and I don’t recall the location of the quest (though it is in the US), so this may well not meet your criteria.

LA Confidential (well not the 70s or 80s but...)
Chinatown (Early 70s)

sorry fro not being more clear, what I meant is like, movies that take place or revolve around hollywood 1960-70's. I guess by that I'd say, anything dealing with like celebrities of the time, drugs, porn even, (boogie nights was the only thing I could think of from that time). I guess I'm just looking for something that's subject matter is focued on what was happening during that time period.

The Player,

a film about Hollywood by a person who knew, Robert Altman. I’m not sure of the time frame, but Altman was one of the very top directors in the 70s and much of the material drew on that period.
