Does anyone think that Lucas may do something like seamless branching with the original trilogy? That way, everyone would be happy.

Clint,

Seamless branching will not matter because too many of the same scenes have been re-done or re-created with new effects. Seamless branching is only good for matching separate scenes together. All of the new effects are scattered throughout the original scenes.

Dave, thanks for educating me. I guess I didn't know as much about seamless branching as I thought I did!

I still hope Lucas releases "the holy trilogy" in its original, unaltered form (although this is probably a pipe dream). I have no objections to any more "doctoring" of the films as long as the original trilogy is released.

In the most recent issue of SW Insider, Rick McCallum again reiterated that the original trilogy will not be on DVD before Episode III. Straight from the horse's mouth, and what a foul mouth it is.

Yeah, and I remember GL saying "Star Wars will never be on VHS".

Whatever. I never trust the guy.

EII is about to hit theaters and we haven't heard squat about the original trilogy yet. I think it's safe to assume at this point that it will hit DVD post EIII
