Hi, I am bout to buy all my computer parts for my new HT system. Is there any reason not to go x1900 all in wonder, and just get a regular nvidia video card and a seperate TV tuner card?

    Thanks.

Big things off the top of my head would be features, HDTV, and if your looking at mythTV or such I don't believe the tuner in the AIW cards are Linux compatible.

I wouldn't really recommend the AIW if you intend to export, edit, or otherwise work with the video beyond just recording and then watching. I've had enough problems doing that. It's great for its intended purpose though.

Ease/Cost of upgrade path: If you want to upgrade your video card to get better picture quality, you need to upgrade your tuner, which is probably working fine.

well thats the thing. :0) Im basically getting a whole new machine. Right now I only have an amd 64 3200 with a 9800 (regular not all in wonder) video card, and 1 GB or ram. Its great for running counter strike, but I dont even have a TV tuner right now. obviously a x1900 will be a better video card, and I can use it as a tuner. I dont need it to edit video, just watch and maybe record and play back every so oftin.

With that new info, what cha all think?

That's a nice machine you got - why not just slap a TV tuner in there?
