I initially found this tutorial and tried to do it myself but it's too difficult...then I figured I'd just download the source file

and try to edit the text on the poker chip image, but I can't seem to get to the layer where the text actually is. I just wanted to change the text to read CF

The download of the source file is at the bottom of the tutorial...if anyone would be willing to take a look at the source file and point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I can put something *similar* together for you tonight. A better description of just what it is you want/need would make it better.

Hi Zack, thanks for responding!

I'm just basically looking for the chip to read CF, instead of "poker" as it is in the final result in the tutorial with the rest of it the same. I like the way the text is positioned in their image. It's going to be used as a logo for a forum I'm starting up called Chipper Forum, which I think is too long for the chip image, so I thought CF would do just fine instead.

I think I could make the color correction myself as I'm looking for a dark blue.

Am I right in thinking that the reason I can't find the text layer in that source file is because they flattened and or merged the text layer?

Thanks again for the reply!

They didn't keep the text on a separate layer, that's correct.

I don't do faux 3d-photoshop work, I'd be happy to do something like this for you;

I whipped that up in a few minutes so the patterns aren't accurate, I wanted to make sure you could use it first.

That looks great Zack....looks like a photo actually, more realistic than the tutorial version. Is that what you meant by faux 3D work? I'm just curious...

You can say that again Mike! I've been operating web sites of one sort or another for about 10 years now, and I've learned to do a lot of stuff myself...html coding, light php, installing and modifying forum software etc, etc....But graphics work has always just killed me.

Thanks guys,

About the "faux 3D," it's not made in photoshop, it's built and rendered in 3D software and then post work is done with Adobe. So it's "real" 3D instead of faking it.

I see....very cool Zack. I had all good intentions of really learning to use PS. Got the software, got a couple of books..even bought one of those lynda.com classes. I've never been able to really wrap my brain around it. Not a surprise, considering I've never been artistically inclined.

I see you snuck a little yellow chip in that stack!

Are there source files, or should I just save from here?

Thanks again Zack!

Start with Lightroom first, then move on to Photoshop only if you need it. Terry White’s Tech Blog http://www.scottkelby.com/ http://kelbytv.com/photoshopusertv/ http://www.kelbytraining.com/online/index.html http://www.planetphotoshop.com/ http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/
