Hey John-
The two disc set is a nice set of Pat's music. Regretfully, the set isn't that welecomed by Pat or Neil. The set was released without the co-operation of either of them, which is why they got together and released the THREE disc set Sychronistic Wanderings. The set, well worth the price, features the full length verions (the two disc set was the single edits) and many rare live and hard to find tracks.
I have been a fan of Pat since 1979. In fact, going to Mrytle Beach tomorrow and seeing her at the House of Blues.
To catch you up on what she has been doing...
VH-1 has taped a Behind The Music special on her to air sometime in the future. There is a rumoured "Remix" collection that may come out toward the end of the year. And she and Neil have been hard at work on a new studio album that should be out sometime in the later part of this year or next.
May want to check out her website atwww.benatar.com and the fan club sitewww.benatarfanclub.com.
Hope you continue to enjoy her music John.

Yes, "Hell Is For Children" is my all-time favorite Pat Benetar song. I still get all fired up listening to her. I do the "dance" when the "Love Is A Battlefield" video comes on VH-1 Classic.

I've been listening to Pat since 1980 (I was 13)
I've seen her live about 10 times, and I'm seeing her live again at the Hampton Beach Casino in New Hampshire next week
If you get the chance don't miss her live, she still has one of the best rock voices, especially live
I also love her blues cd, the title track True Love is one of her best songs

I'm still waiting for a modern band to remake the video for "Love is a Battlefield", I always thought it would be really funny if the Ben Fold Five did (just imagine Ben shaking his chest like Pat!)
I know if I was in a big famous rock band like Blink 182 or like those nu metal bands- I would remake this video in a heartbeat!

I wa in love with Pat Benatar when I was younger (actually, I suppose I still am
)
I've seen Pat many times but this was the best...got to go backstage and chat with her & the band. I was in AWE. she was great...signed my T-Shirt and chatted for a good 15 mins with us

She's one of the best female vocalists ever.

Hey John-
Should you get a chance to see her live on her current summer tour, do it.
My partner and I and a friend of ours this past weekend drove to Mrytle Beach and it was very well worth it.
Her voice is better than ever and Neil can really get the quitar going. She preview three songs off the upcoming album and they are great!
To answer your question about the edits on the two disc set, she states in the 3-disc set that she and Neil approved and participated in very much how they were 'unhappy' with the two disc set. The only edit that I am aware of is the omission of the 'intro' track on Everybody Lay Day on the third disc, but it really isn't needed anyway. You can get the three disc set on her website, www.benatar.com for $25.00 as compared to mostly everywhere else at the cost of $35.00 to $40.00. It provides a better picture of Pat's music than the two disc set does. Not for only singles, Pat is also well known for album tracks which are featured the three disc set. You had asked if you should purchase the "Best Shots" Cd, while the album is good, the only true reason that I would purchase the album (and I had it till the 3-disc arrived) if for the live version of "Suffer The Little Children/Hell Is For Children"...simply outstanding.
Should you decide to go back and get some old release from her, the two that you should start with are "Crimes of Passion" and "Wide Awake In Dreamland."
Should you want to talk about here more, if you would like, email me [email protected]

Been a fan since 1980 (and of course, I went back and got the previous year's "In The Heat Of The Night" soon after).
Got to see her only once in concert - for the "Get Nervous" tour.
My all-time favorite Benatar song is "Precious Time", I just love Neil's guitar solo in that one.

My favorite concert of Pat's was the 1981(I think) Precious Time tour
I saw her at the Cape Cod Coliseum (which I think is now defunct)
She had two guitarist then, Neil of course and Scott Sheets, she really rocked hard that night, she even did the Helter Skelter cover and it was excellent
This was also my first time seeing her live
