I see that it's heading for the 'Box this July 28th. I've only slightly heard of it but, after checking out the PC reviews, the game looks stunning!

Any game that has a sort of haunting, strange yet beautiful sort of atmosphere to it, always entices me.

Syberia looks to be just that and, after reading the reviews, it sounds amazing.

If any of you guys have played it, what was your feelings on it?

Supposedly it's going to cost $19.99 on the Xbox and at that price, it might be a steal.

-After looking into the game after reading your post, I'd have to say this sounds like the type of game that gets me interested in the internet video game rental companies. Even at $19.99, a game that is single player, has probably one time play though depth and is not too challenging doesn't seem worth a purchase. But since my interest is somewhat peaked I'm sure I'd take it for a week as part of one of those monthly rental programs. Ask me again though in a few months when Target offers it up for $6.99 and I might just sing a different tune.

Syberia would be a bargain at twice the price. One of the best adventure games I've ever played...

    I anxiously await Syberia 2.

I assume it's not the same as Cyberia(an average PC game from a while back)?

This is actually the third real reason I want an X-Box, seeing as how I missed out on the PC game and would rather play this while sitting on my couch.

I'm an old-school adventure gamer, so I leapt on Syberia like a tiger on a hunter's ass. Buuuuuut, it wasn't he experience I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good game, but after it was over I felt that there were a lot of weak areas in the script(who wrote the characters, they're all sociopaths?!?) and the pacing of the game.

Personally, I recommend The Longest Journey as the most recent adventure game that REALLY kicked ass. The writing's better, there's more depth to it, and to put it bluntly, I think Syberia kind of ripped it off. Check it out if you can get your hands on it, you won't be disappointed.

Well, my interest is peaked that Joel and Romier think so highly of the game! Anymore opinions out there?

Thanx for the info guys. Think I'll pick it up. There's going to be a long draught, for me, between Syberia and the next big releases this fall.

Hey Morgan, one review of Syberia I read said, "...think of Ico". That damn near seals the deal for me. [IMG]

I loved ICO, I loved Myst 3 (played most of 1, missed out on 2), I love Shadowgate, and I'm sure I'll love Syberia. Even if the game isn't that good, the fact that it's a point-and-click adventure game is damn near good enough for me.

Why is this game selling for only $20?

Thanks, Romier. I thought was unusual that a game was being released at only $20. It's normally not a good sign but that probably isn't the case here. Any idea how they are going to convert point and click to an Xbox contoller?

i just picked this up a few days ago and haven't spent much time yet, but so far so good.

the visuals are awesome. the user interface is pretty logical, but i would recommend some minor changes.

the only thing i'm not liking so far is character movement. it looks like i'm going to have to do a lot of "back and forth" stuff -- which always irritates the heck out of me. i would have liked to see some kind of zip-mode (?) like in riven.

i'm pretty sure i'm going to pick this one up...

    a couple of questions, though:

    1) is the game engine similar to resident evil? that is, static screens from a variety of perspectives through which the character moves?

    2) do the backgrounds move like they do in resident evil zero, where the fronds of grass wave in the breeze, as do the leaves and branches of the trees, and fog drifts over the ground?

    3) is it 480p? 720p? 16:9? DD 5.1?

    4) what's ICO?

    thanks, guys.
