Has there been any new on when we can expect a 4k disc player and movie titles since we have 4K tv's available? Was there any news at CES regarding 4K movie titles on a disc format. I have no interest in owning HD movies or 4K movies where I would have to stream them. Would rather have the movies on disc especially for the advanced lossless audio formats. I kinda see it as a rip off paying for HD material and getting lossy DD track that was ported over from the old DVD.

Am hoping to get a 4K tv soon and it would be nice to have 4k material with lossless audio to go with it.

I've only seen rumors that there might be a new "4K Blu-ray" standard by the fall. It'll doubtless be even longer before the studios actually provide 4K content on disc. In the meantime, the only 4K servers are the proprietary servers available from Sony and RED. They download their content from the internet and (from what I understand) only work with specific 4K displays and usually not with random "4K" TVs.

why am I not surprised porn is jumping on board, rofl. Wow there are some things I don't think we need to see in 4K.

I wouldn't expect much content this year even when everything gets finalized.

The only thing I am not looking forward to is the first 4K players costing $1K to $1.5K and I hope they do not go and charge $80 for a 4K movie. I wouldn't be surprised if we do not see 4K discs until next year.

Personally if we as customers can't have finalized specs of 10 or 12 bit 4K video with frame rates of at least 60Hz, then why even bother with 4K at all. My professionally calibrated Panasonic ST60 look absolutely stunning, so I'm prepared to sit 4K out until hopefully get the above specs.

I had an older 2005 Sony rear projection wega that was native 720p that would take 1080i input so I could not wait and went with the Samsung 55" UHD TV. Am hoping with the external smart hub that even if the specs with current HDMI will not work I should hopefully only have to get a new smart hub and be back up to speed.
