Just wondering if any plans are in the works to integrate DVD-A or SACD decoders into the receivers rather than in players ? Is this even feasible ?

    Thanks

Kirk, I see no reason why it would not be possible to include DVD-Audio and SACD DACs in all receivers, but the backers of the high-resolution formats are deathly afraid of equipping players with universal digital outputs. They are afraid of unauthorized copying of the "close-to-the-master-tape" audio. For now, we still have proprietary digital outputs on a handful of DVD-Audio or SACD players for connection to the same manufacturers' flagship receivers or DAC. Examples include the Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai/VSX-49TXi and Denon DVD-9000/AVR-5803 combinations for DVD-Audio and a $30,000 two-box transport/DAC combination from Accuphase for SACD. The Accuphase system actually has a 24/192 PCM DAC, not a DSD DAC.
