I read somewhere that this was Howard Hughes' favorite film. He had his own print which he watched over and over again. I don't know when it is coming out on DVD but TCM shows it letterboxed every now and then.

It is owned by Warner, so it won't be a 'Superbit' title - that's just Columbia's marketing jive.

Where Eagles Dare was recently restored on film.

Ice Station was shot on 65mm (Super Panavision) and exibited in 35mm anamorphic/mono, 70mm/6-track stereo and Super Cinerama 70 (2.59:1). I believe that the neg is in bad shape and is in need of restoring - like most 65mm origination films from the Sixties. Howard Hughes would probably have funded the restoration! [IMG]

It's a real fun movie and a sparkling DVD edition would be nice.
