I'm afraid so if you're looking for straight CD playback. I've heard some good things about the Sony ES SACD 5 disc changers for both SACD and CD. Denon just released a 2815 model which looks like it is supposed to be better than their 1815, but not sure on it's audio specs. Also, NAD is in the process of releasing new products, but not sure if they have a changer lined up. I have a Yamaha CX1, which can be had for

I believe the Rotel is the best of the bunch, although it lists for $700. There's little if any difference between the 1055 and the 955, which closed out at the end of '02. You can probably find a good quality 955 on the used market. Marantz also makes decent CD changers, although I believe their quality level has dropped the past couple of years.
