Just finished watching this again. Really great film. Ralph Fiennes and Cate Blanchett shine in this 1800's period film. One of the best scores ever by Thomas Newman. Really needs a bluray release.

It was okay for a one time viewing. The last time I thinned out my DVD collection it was one of the titles that went into the "trade in" bag so obviously I wouldn't be among those cheered by a blu announcement but, of course, happy for those who want it. In all good conscious, I must confess that I'm not a fan of Cate Blanchett, possibly the most overrated actress of her generation. But even if it had starred Meryl Streep, I doubt my opinion of the film would change.
