Bottom one looks to be a somewhat higher model - note the detachable power cord and weird binding posts.

I don't think that thing is ugly. Looks pretty simple to me. Actually looks a lot like my receiver with the knobs moved down:

Hey they added a cool blue light on the I/O button. Looks like im gonna have to sell my 1014 and buy a 1015.
