I've read a biton the forums about The Who being one of the big artists coming next to SACD. It's a bit hard to do a search, however, as "Who" is such a common word. [IMG]
So my question is, does anyone have a general idea of when these might come out? Have they even been officially announced? I hear it might be only "My Generation" that's planned for release. Is this true? Thanks.

Nick, I too have heard that My Generation will be coming to SACD, but I have heard nothing in awhile. For what it's worth, Shel Talmy supposedly remixed this title for release on SACD, and a search here for "Talmy" will probably yield some helpful discussions.

He is the engineer for The Who and has stated that DSD masters are already "in the can".
We should see these next year, given the Stones success.
Now if we could just get Led Zeppelin done. [IMG]

Will John Astley be involved with these releases? If so, I'm definately not buying.

You'd think they would follow the example of the Rolling Stone's SACDs. Ironically, the West Side Story SACD will be a hybrid. It seems to me, this title would be better suited as a single layer SACD, because this would be targeted more to the SACD market. Whereas, the Who will have a broder base of customers. Of course, no one at Universal is asking our opinion.

Similarly potentially likewise: Polygram did a 2 CD "special edition" of Deep Purple's Machine Head, but yet when the DVD-A was done, only got the original mix. Stupid.

I want the "extra" stuff more than I want the improvement of DVD-A (or SACD) over CD.

But since most of the Who's material has recently been remixed/remastered anyway, SACD-only's make sense. Anyone who wanted an improved CD remix/remaster already bought 'em.

The TOMMY remaster is pretty nifty, as is the 1995(?) remaster of LIVE AT LEEDS. I'd like to see them all redone as SACD's though.
