So I finally got my PS3 hooked up to the web. And I was looking for webbish stuff to do so installed Ubuntu in there, and I realized I kind of liked doing computer stuff on my TV (previously I'd always gotten by with just a laptop.) Which led to me thinking--"Hey, if Ubuntu on a game machine is this much fun, imagine how great a dedicated Windows machine would be in HI DEF!!!!" So I started looking around for a cheap little home theater PC, and checked out the Dell slim models, and somehow got over to the HP Slimlines. THEN I noticed one of the Slimlines had an external HD/BR drive. The conversation in my head went to "I definitely don't need that, I have players for both" to "Wouldn't it be kind of nice to have a backup, though?" and then to "What if my PS3 explodes? And somehow HD DVD hangs on long enough to have specs that aren't upgradeable on my A1?" Which leads to me ABSOLUTELY HAVING to get something with a combo drive.
Anyway, that's how I ended up owning a HP s3330f, which apparently was part of HP's exhibit at CES. I'll let you know how it goes.
