Any guess how long the repairs to my Denon 2900 will last?

Just got my Denon 2900 back for the Denon Pine Brook, N.J. Service Center. It was sent in because it would not play any CD-R’s and some Redbook CD’s. Also, sometimes it would lose the audio track on concert DVD’s. I bought the unit new 01/04 and it started displaying these symptoms after about 14 months of steady use and gradually got worse. Finally, I gave in and sent it back last month for repairs. Denon replaced the “Traverse Mecha” part #9KC2A063A. I assume this is the mechanical tracking device for the laser pick-up. Maybe someone could give me some additional information on this repair. The Denon rep on the phone was pleasant, but was unable to provide any details. The unit is rarely used for movie playback but is used almost daily for music i.e….SACD/DVD-A, CD-R’s, redbook CD’s and concert DVD’s. I know now, that the Denon DVD players are prone to tracking problems. I did not know this when I bought the unit.

Do you think I’ll get more than a 18 months worth of play time out of this repair? Short of using the player less, is there anything I can do to extend it’s play life?

So...no 2900's owners have had to have this type of work done before?

Sorry, no problems with my 2900. Still going strong after several years.

My last CD player to have tracking problems went into the garbage.

I've read on this forum and others that the Denon's DVD players have a history tracking issues. Oddly though, nobody is reporting problems with their unit.

Oh well...at least after the repairs to my 2900, it's been working perfectly. I just hope the replaced tracking device lasts longer than the OEM part.
