Where is The Big Picture on DVD? This is my favorite Kevin Bacon movie. Second favorite Chris Guest/Michael McKean movie.

You're kidding right?

...ahmm... the original post asked: "Can anyone suggest additional films that deal with the movie making industry and the making of movies."
...so, no - I'm not kidding at all! ...after all, nobody protested when the Dirk Diggler movie was listed...

Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse
"the magic and madness of making Apocalypse Now"
In my opinion, Hearts of Darkness IS the best DOCUMENTARY ever made and and it is as powerful as the film it documents the making of - Apocalypse Now. It is the best film not on DVD next to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Schindler's List and I bought a laserdisc player just for that reason.

The movie And God Spoke is fairly entertaining. Swimming with Sharks deals with the film industry. The Muse acknowledges the difficulties being a screenwriter, with some funny cameos. I have to say Living in Oblivion is the most entertaining and accurate representation of how films are made.

Hijacking Hollywood is a terrific, no-budget independent, starring Henry Thomas and Scott Thompson. It is available on R1 DVD.

Yes, but at the same time, I could point out that the thread header asks the question: "Any GOOD movies about making movies?" :D
Also, the I personally wouldn't say that the brief, sanitised look at the inner-workings of the hardcore porn-industry in 8MM qualitied under the description "films that deal with the movie making industry." Just an opinion.

The Stunt Man is an oft-overlooked but superb thriller/mind-bender, starring Peter O'Toole as a tyrannical director, and Steve Railsback as a fugitive on-the-run whom the director forces to help with his movie... Extremely fun, too... On a lot of critic's Best-of-1980 lists...
