Hi, i just reformatted my HD, and reinstalled my Monster3D card with the Voodoo1 chip, coz my friend said i could run Halflife on it, and possibly counterstrike. I got HL:Uplink demo, it ran pretty smoothly, at around 25-30fps at 640x480.

Are there any other good games that will run on my Pentium 166 overclocked to 210 with 64MB ram, Win98SE and a Monster3D card?

But seriously you just described my family's first computer back in 97. It's a Packard Bell P166, came with 16mb of ram but I installed 48 or 64, and I also put in a Monster3D 8mb PCI card. I was thinking of some cheap solutions to just make things run faster (read: acceptably smooth) but it's a seemingly impossible task, especially with this AT architecture.
I guess MYST would work on just about anything since it's sooooo old.
Question- How did you OC it and why to 210?

Well, the big games at the time were Quake & Tomb Raider. Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 might be okay as well. Forsaken would be worth checking out.

Scott: I OC'd it to 210MHz coz my bios would only get it up that high. I used 83MHz * 2.5x i think... I tried going to 233 but it would just go back by itself to 150MHz..

you could actually probably get the original Unreal to run. I played it on a Cyrix 183Mhz with a Voodoo Rush card and it ran good.

GTA1 & GTA2 will work on it quite happily [IMG]
Seriously though, games of the Quake era will work fine on a computer like that if you've got a Voodoo1 in it.

can you say DUAL AMD Athlons', Windows 2000, and a GeFORCE card? [IMG]
otherwise... Age of Empires I and II should work fine, Starcraft, Tony Hawk 2, Quake II may even work... Duke Nukem 3D, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Doom, and Wolfenstein 3d (well, you could run this on a 286, but it is still fun [IMG] )

    Howdy,
I have Quake and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II which should run on your system. Haven't used either of them in years. If you want drop me an email with your address and I will send them to you. These are the original retail CDs, no pirated stuff.
    LMK,
    Keith

Rollercoaster Tycoon should run great. It's not 3D but it's one of the funnest PC games around.

Come on, dual Athlons would be a waste for gaming.

    Warcraft II!
Curse of Monkey Island - first two would work also [IMG].
    Myth I - maybe
Heroes of Might and Magic 2 - 3 might work, but I like 2 better anyway
    Rainbow Six - maybe
Quake - maybe even Quake 2.
    The Worms Series
Command and Conquer - Original and Red Alert
If you like racers, then I would go with Carmageddon, the early Need for Speed games (except 2!), and Motoracer.
Panzer General II and Sid Meier's Gettysburg should also work. Oh, and CivII of course.
Man, that took me back. Had to look over at my old school cd rack [IMG].

    Wow thanks alot you guys...
I used to run Quake2 pretty smoothly on my PC, but got bored of that...
My Bro has RollerCoaster Tycoon on his P120, and i dont like sims that much... though THE sims looks kinda interesting...
Keith: Thanks for the offer, but im not a real hardcore PC gamer, so i'd probably stick those in once or twice then let it sit and gather dust... So i wouldnt wanna waste them... thakns alot anyways.. [IMG]
Haha, Rob... I wish i had the $$$... Well for all i do (Burning CDs, Listen to MP3, Surf the net, ICQ, homework etc), its good enough.
I played worms armageddon... got bored of that... [IMG]

Half Life came out at the same time as Sin, and it's much better. Let's see, these games will run and are good:

The Curse of Monkey Island (In my top 3 favorite games ever!)

Grim Fandango (My favorite game ever!)

    Quake II

    Rainbow Six

    Tomb Raider 2

    Full Throttle (Great)

    Half Life (Great)

    Blade Runner

These are all 8 out 10 or higher games, and can readily be had for $20. You can't go wrong with these.

Pretty much anything that uses the GLIDE rendering engine; other favourites are Wing Commander: Prophecy, Independance War, stuff from that era.

    Oh, and Heavy Gear 2.

I'm gonna second both Fallout games. The best CRPGs in the business, hands down.
