Any Experience/Thoughts On Best Buy's Insignia Brand TV's? (1 Viewer)

A close friend on a very tight budget needs a new modest TV. Any idea who builds these TV's? The Insignia brand has not been around long enough to establish a track record.

The friends last TV was an Emerson that lasted about 8-10 years. Not so hot itself.

All thoughts will be appreciated.

I had one of these 42" HD plasma units for three months earlier this year before I sold it off to a friend. No room for it and I had learned all I could about it.

OVerall, the image quality is very capable. Ranks right up there with the mid range plasmas of all the name brands.

Not as good as panasonic and pioneer ... but better than samsung ... on par with LG ... better than Dell ...

The image performance is there ...

Now the other shoe drops ...

The little things outside of image quality are where you find deficiencies. The polish and finish of the TV from the remote control design to the menu system in the TV are all below average. Amateurish .... unfinished ...
