Awhile back there was some buzz (confirmed by Bob Gitt and Rob Stone of the UCLA preservation team) that CBS/King World were going to release the restored Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes series on DVD in 2003.

I have not been able to find any dates or details of these releases. Does anyone have any info?

From what I understand Hugh Hefner, a big fan of these films, funded some of these restorations. I read somewhere that Warner Brothers kicked in the rest of the money.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Bless you, Paul! I only hope you're right!

I love the Basil / Nigel S.H. series of films!

All 14 with nice cleaned-up transfers would create an "elementary" buying decision, old bean!

"It's beyond imagination I suppose that someone else could have used the rake and then wiped off BOTH sets of fingerprints?!" -- Bone of the Rath variety as the smooth sleuth. :)

Hefner & Rathbone: A Winning Combination! :D .......
