Like the post says, any Corvette owners here? Anyone here into racing? I've been into racing for some time and have had some time on a track in my previous car, a modded BMW 328 with mostly suspension changes. If you're into cars, chime in.

I don't race but I'm very much into Corvettes. I've owned a 2001 coupe, a 2000 convertible and just bought a 2004 convertible a few weeks ago. Here's a couple of pics of my latest right after I bought it:

Since then I've added an air intake, exhaust and Z06 style screens all around. If you're not familiar with the Corvette Forum, you should check it out. Great place with a ton of Vette owners, racers, tuners, etc. :emoji_thumbsup:

Man, the Vette is gorgeous. It must be cherry since it's brand new. Mine is a 99 but it's in pristine condition. Here are some pics...

Here is my previous 328.

Tim, I couldn't help but notice the sold sign in front of your house. You didn't sell it to finance owning all of those Vettes, did you?;)

You know, people who I know always jump to the conclusion that I'm either Corvette broke or rich. I'm neither. These cars are not as expensive as you might think. My previous BMW...that car was overpriced for what the car was. We needed a new car and we have a Honda Accord as well. We were going to sell the Accord and get another one but decided to sell the BMW and get this corvette. It's cheaper than a new Accord and so much more fun. The car has insane value for performance. Owning corvettes isn't about the money; it's about someone doing what they always wanted and taking the step to get the car you want.

PS: I'm a member of the corvetteforums. Corvette owners are usually a great bunch.

Z06s are definitely choice! I had initially bought this car for my wife as a birthday surprise so having two requirements (convertible and auto) were a must. It worked out in the end that I had the car. I thought that I would hate the auto, but with this much power, who cares? I'll take it out to a drivers ed class at Texas World Speedway one of these days so that I can really see what she can do and more importantly, what she is like past the limits.

Andrew - Nope, just a cooincidence that they happened at about the same time. :D

Sanjay - Your Vette looks great! I really like the Z06 Motorsports wheels. I'd like to get a set but my wife doesn't want me to replace the wheels yet since they're brand new. Don't feel bad about the auto, mine's an auto too and I love it. I drive mine to work every day through a lot of stop and go traffic and didn't want to deal with the 6 speed.

Keith - Let's see some pics of that Z! :emoji_thumbsup:

Hey, the wheels on your car are awesome. The only reason I changed out the wheels is because I had the 99 wagon wheels. It seems that almost all other wheels cost an arm and a leg since no one mass produces a wheel for the Vette.

Yeah, we wanna see some pics of the Z06!

Corvette owner chiming in..

I started off with an 89 Z51 Coupe then a 95 Coupe then I
picked up a 68 Coupe which I sold last year to a friend and
I also bought a 2000 Millennium Yellow Z51 Coupe 6 speed
a few years ago.

My 2000 is for sale I am buying a used Audi S4 to mod the
hell out of and have something that I can use all year
round and then in a year or two I plan on picking up a C6.

I am just looking for a break from the Corvette lifestyle
for a while. I went and test drove a 2000 Audi S4 6 speed
with an APR 1.0 BAR Chip and I was blown away and how
completely night and day the interior was over the Vette
and how a twin turbo V6 could feel almost as balsy as my
2000 :)

But I will be back! I can't stay away! I have always had
a love affair with Vette's and I have throughly enjoyed
all of mine.

Here's some shots..

Nice looking Vette Brett! :emoji_thumbsup: I'm sure that you'll be back in the Vette family soon. I've driven an S4 and while it's a nice car, it's not a Vette. :D The Audi interiors are very nice though. I know that you'll enjoy it.

While I've never owned a Vette, they are some sweet looking cars.

Now, let me rant a little. Last week, I was at the stop light when a late-90s Vette pulled up in the lane next to me. It was being driven by a middle-aged guy - I'm nearing middle-age, but this guy was still a bit older. On the back of this poor vette were approximately 4 of those "ghetto" fake, bullet hole stickers in his Vette.

I can't figure out if they fool was trying to look cool with those stickers or not. Anyway, thanks for letting me rant.

Sanjay,

Nice work and sweet ride :)

By the way.. If you want to blur the background out when
the picture is taken use a shallow Depth Of Field and a
Telephoto lens setting. For example 300mm Focal and say
F2.8 Aperture would result in a shallow DOF and you could
get "just the car" in focus, anything in front or behind
would be OOF (Out Of Focus) :)

Tim,

Have you ever driven a Modified S4? It's really not even
the same car at all :)

Stock the S4's sold in the U.S are 250HP... You change the
ECU's "chip" and the car now has 340HP... Yes it's that
big of a difference! The stock U.S spec S4's were seriously
de-tuned and are running a meager 7-9 pounds of boost and
they can handle upwards of 17Lbs stock.

It handles good (no Vette but with the right suspension
will pull the same numbers) but the biggest factor is that
I can drive it in the winter (AWD)..

I want an AWD car and my options are limited. I can't
afford to carry full coverage on two vehicles one which
sits 4 months out of the year. And when it comes to "new"
cars there really isn't anything that I like that I can
afford. The Subaru STi WRX is the closest car that comes to
mind but it's just an econobox tincan with more HP.. It's
NO Audi by any means.

I wouldn't mind an AWD V8 Mercedes but I can't swing it
right now :)

So I am getting the S4 and then chipping it and adding a
set of StaSis coil overs ($995.00) and a set of 18" x 8"
Flik Lex Rims and Toyo Proxy T1s tires ($1300.00 for the
set) and I will be rollin nicely :)

I will be back though.. I want a C6 but I don't want a
first or second year car so I am going to wait about three
model years and then pick one up. I figure any and all bugs
will be worked out by then.

Wayne,

Unfortunatly anyone can buy a Corvette. There is at the
moment no test administered by GM that would weed out the
nimrods from the Creme De'Le Creme.

I have seen some pretty st00pid things done to Corvette's.
Just recently I saw a "C4" Generation (1984-96) converted
to a C5 (1997-2004) in the Auto Trader. Talk about RICE!

*Shakes Head* :D

No, unfortunately the one that I drove was a pure stock 2001. That's quite a gain from just a chip. I know that these cars are de-tuned when they're brought to the U.S. but I didn't expect that much. That should be a very fun car to drive. :emoji_thumbsup: Fortunately for me I don't have to deal with the snow and can drive my Vette all year.

Not a Corvette owner but very much into racing. I own a street version of the legendary Group A race car, Nissan Skyline GT-R. R32 naturally. Still under work, haven't been able to do all the stuff that I have wanted but some day... :)

I thought I would add some pics of my brother's car (I wish it was mine!!!) for the Corvette fans:

Here is a pic showing some of his early modifications (how low can you go?!):

Exhaust:

...and after headlamps and wheels/tires...

I will post updated pictures with new modifications, including a custom-made hood, new racing seats and more when he sends them to me.
