Subject says it all... the barebones DVD release isn't that great and I'd love to get a nice special edition of this film. Any hope of a re-release?

Was the May 5/06 release an upgrade over the original release? or just new packaging?

It's just a new cover and still is non-anamorphic. Same exact extras on the back though AND it has the same exact UPC too! I'm also waiting on Special Collector's Editions for 48 Hours and Another 48 Hours.

Walter Hill doesn't do Special Editions.

He only did the Paramount re-release of "THE WARRIORS" because Paramount begged him so they could sell some comic-book video games.

Hill is one of those directors who has NO interest in his films once he has released them. I know, we have been trying to get an S.E. of "STREETS OF FIRE" off the ground too.

I'd be happy with a new anamorphic transfer of 48 Hours released on DVD. To this day it's still one of my favorite movies and I'd love to see it look a bit better than it does on the current disc.

The first time I saw 48 Hours was as a kid when the local Mann theater paired it with Star Trek II for a double feature. My friend and I were only 12 at the time but we didn't get run out of there when 48 Hours started so we stayed for that too.

I was thinking about this movie the other day too. An anamorphic edition would be nice. I know I saw Another 48 Hours but can't remember any of it.
