I am in love with this movie! Rowan Atkinson is one of the funniest British comedians I've ever seen! The only part which I could not understand was why the Langley family was so uptight over Bean BEFORE he actually did anything.
(Except the airport incident)
And does anyone know if Bean is going to get a better DVD release in anamorphic widescreen and/or with deleted scenes??

I actually like this movie a lot too. Some parts of it are just recycled from the TV-series though, which annoyed me a bit. Most fans of the TV series didn't seem to like the movie too much, but I did. Have you seen the TV series? The New Years episode is one of the most brilliant (and rather sad) comedy pieces I've ever seen.
The family was annoyed because... well, if I remember correctly the family was sort of falling apart already before Bean came there, and they were trying the best to keep it together. When the stranger came, it just got wrose, especially when it turned out to be Bean. I agree that it was a little over-done though.
I don't know anything about the DVD.

I've only seen it a couple of times once and the cinema and once I rented it. I liked it at the time, don't know about now though.

I used to watch the series when it was on TV, I thought it was hilarious.

I loved the Bean movie.....as well as all his other short Bean episodes.....what other man could drive a car while sitting in a recliner on top! :D
I haven't heard about anything as far as updates to the DVD.

i'm a fan of the show and found the movie slow. although the scene where he unveils the ruined Whistler's Mom made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt for the next 5 minutes. i'm so glad i hadn't seen the trailer because that scene was in it - it would have totally ruined the moment!

I really liked the movie as well. I love the TV show. I guess it is really hard to sustain hilarity throughout a 80 to 90 minute movie.

I enjoyed how in the movie Dead-Alive when Lionel took the baby to the playground and all the mishaps happened, that it was like a scene from a Mr. Bean episode. That's all I have to say about that.

The television show is great (one of the best television shows ever). I liked the movie, nowhere near as good as the tv show, but still funny and enjoyable.
Overall, **½ out of ****.
I still have my widescreen VHS tape of the film as it includes a nineteen minute segment before the film featuring deleted scenes. Sadly, that feature isn't available on the DVD release. :frowning:

I thought it was pretty funny. My sister, on the other hand, thinks Bean is one of the most hysterical movies ever made.
...but then again, she also likes Absolutely Fabulous... :rolleyes
