I had read rumors that the trilogy was coming this summer but I guess that was false. Anyone here heard anything?

The latest news is that it is back on the release schedule, which is good news. Unfortunately, we don't have any word on when.

This whole BTTF things pisses me off to no end. At least Lucas is not jerking us around saying Star Wars is being released 2Q 2002...no wait, its postponed. Now its 3Q..No wait 1Q 2004...no we'll wait some more. At least he keeps a lid on it and keeps us guessing. Universal just keeps toying with us like Pavlov's Dogs. Anyone hear a bell ringing?

Laserland in San Jose has it listed as scheduled for release in 2002 ( info I assume they get from the studios).

There's an interview with Bob Gale on bttf.com, and he says the reason they're not on DVD yet is because Universals foreign DVD rights was sold to Columbia for 3 years. This deal will probably expire this year, and after that we should see some major Universal titles on DVD...

I know that Universal's contract with Columbia ends by the
end of this year and they will start distributing their own
stuff for themselfs from there on.
I am realy happy with this news because it will give Universal an opportunity to release some good stuff.
I think Back To The Future Trioligy , ET , Schindler's List
and Legend are now all kandidates to be released in 2002.
If this does happen 2002 is already shaping up to be a very nice year.
Now if they could only release those movies with that man with the whip..... [IMG]

Yeah, but why not release first in R1 and then do the rest of the world later. I mean, it's not like the studios haven't raced to f**k over the rest of the world anyway - it's the only real reason they need region encoding, as far as I can see. ;-)
As a UK resident I am slightly worried about Columbia Tristar losing the rights to these Universal releases as thus far CT have proved one of the best R2 suppliers, giving us pretty much identical discs any time they can.
Universal UK (okay, a separate company thought I don't quite know how it works) have been bloody awful. You just have to hope that Universal don't follow this road into obscurity in the R2 market.

I know it's Paramount Bjorn , the reason I placed it is because in the prospect of seeing BTTF Trioligy released Paramount could also release Indy next year !!!!
    See ya

I just read the Bob Gale interview. He gives the impression that work has not yet started on the BTTF dvds - is this true?
