I've been reading tht Sony's stuff is crap. Need other brands. It doesn't have to be hdtv.
Well, I'm here to tell you that Sony TVs aren't crap. I'm more amazed with my 27" Wega and my roommate's 32" Wega each day. If it didn't have the 16:9 enhanced compression mode, I'd still be happy. You just gotta tweak em a little.

Sony TV's are crap? OK, yeah, whatever! Our family's first Sony Trinitron TV (circa. 1977) lasted 20 years!
And this, from a devoted Toshiba fan: Sonys are terrific. My WEGA is clippin' along nicely, and that raster-collapse feature has me happy. Mine is an excellent transitional set.
Have you looked at the Panasonic Tau's??
They are right up there with the Sony's, and cheaper.
Panasonic's Tau line will not do the squeeze manually. Only auto and sometimes it fails to do it, so if thathappens, whoops.
Sony's sets would be the shit if they didn't suffer from that damn uneven brightness problem.
I didn't say they were crap, I said I heard that they were crap--on this forum I might add. Anyway, I'm keeping an open mind and my options open. Anymore brand that do the squeeeze thing?
