Hi,
I plan to pre-wire the family room in my new house for 7.1 surround sound.
I have a question regarding the speaker placement. Since I cannot post pictures I will try to describe de situation the best I can.
The room is 17x13 with a fireplace in one of the corners. Because of the fireplace the sofa must be placed against one of the short walls.
The rear surround speakers will be placed on the back wall above the sofa. The left and right surround speakers will be on the side walls, about 1-2 feet from the back.
I know this is not the ideal solution: the rear speakers will be right above the listener and the sides may end up being slightly in front.
Do you guys think this is a reasonable compromise or you have better ideas?
Right now I’m using a 5.0 system with JBL N38II fronts, N-Center and N24II surrounds. I will add another pair of N24II for rear-surround and a subwoofer.
Thanks a lot
