i am considering a denon 900 for 137.00, but cructhfield has the rp91 for 299.00....is it a good unit? iss it worth the extra ucks?

using it on a non-hdtv 32" panny tau. i have an rp56 for my mitsubishi 55809 hdtv.

    thanks!!

The RP-91's most useful feature, and the reason many people still use this player, is its aspect ratio control / scaling feature. This feature is only useful when using the player with a 16x9 monitor with a 480p input -- the feature is not even available when the player is in interlaced mode. If you want a decent player to attach to a 4x3 480i television, there are less expensive alternatives.

For an analog TV that you want to use it with, the RP91 is fine, probably the best of the "interlaced" players. A progressive player for an analog TV would be wasted since an analog set can only handle interlaced mode.

ok--i decided that from what i have read, the rp91 looks like one of the best for 480i--i got it for 299.00. i decided against the denon 1600 from a non-authorized dealer. hope this works ok!
