Ok, Thanks ShaneD and everyone else from earlier posts. I have yet to try your suggestions due to other obligations. This is where I'm at now...
I'll give the specs for both boards first.
MSI:
Windows XP Professional: SP2
80 Maxter 8mb cache 7200rpm
2 x 1GB 3500 DDR Ram
AMD XP64bit 3500+
Netgear GA311 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (cat6 xover geeksquad)
2 x Geforce(SLI) 6800OC 128mb
Abit:
Windows XP Professional: SP2
60 Maxter 2mb cache 7200rpm
2 x 512 GB 2700 DDR Ram
AMD XP 2400+
Netgear GA311 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Geforce ??(i forget) 128mb
I set both settings on the cards of both of the computers to 1000 duplex. And defragged both hard drives. When transferring the test file from the MSI board to the Abit board, the time it took as 11 minutes and 49 seconds. But when I transferred the same file back, from the Abit board to the MSI board, it took 4 min 35 seconds!! 222 megabits/s!! This is about 27mb/s. But why is this just one way? Did this have something to do with the difference of speed/memory in both of the computers? The faster one is pushin it out but the slower computers memory is filling up? I dont know. Just a guess.
When I transferred it from MSI to ABIT, the network utilization kept going up and down like before. But when I transferred it from the ABIT to the MSI, it was very steady at 23% (of 1Gig).
Shane, I'll try your settings the next time I get to my puters.
