How long have they been using that Imaginary Friends bottom screen logo? Just saw it pop up for the first time during Ninja Turtles. It takes up the entirelength of the bottom screen, and covers up a good deal of picture.

I don't see why people at networks think that these types of adds are a good idea...all they do is serve to annoy fans of the program..

I've been watching Buffy on FX hey have something pretty annoying. Whenever Buffy returns from commerical break, a fire engine drives out of the corner complete with screeching noises and sirens which gets in the way of you being able to hear dialogue for a few seconds.

I haven't seen this Imaginary Friends bug, but back when Clone Wars was on, they used to have a similar bug promoting that show. Now, I loved Clone Wars, but it was very distracting to hear lightsaber and R2-D2 sound effects every few minutes while watching a non-Star Wars show.

st saw it on Justice Leage I think, it ruined the program and made not want to watch but I did anyweay. JLU and that Fosgter show are very good, they do not need this to hurt their ratings.

Oh, man, you're not kidding about the FX crap.

I was watching an episode of "Rescue Me" the other night. The Dennis Leary character's daughter was in a car crash. As soon as the show came back from a commercial break, the doctor came out and told the family what her condition was, but you couldn't hear what he said because Hank Hill was mowing the lawn across the bottom of the screen for about 15 seconds. I had to back the show up and turn on the closed captioning to find out what he said.

This logo bug crap is getting out of hand.

The WB is starting to do something like this now, only they haven't added in sound effects..yet. But I bet they will eventually. After each commercial break, they put up a bug at the bottom of the screen with floating heads(with either Clark from Smallville, Jack and Bobby from the aforementioned show, or whoever they are on The Mountain) and the show's logo which is very distracting.

The network logos and little text at the bottom never bothered me, but all these huge graphics are getting tiresome.

I have the time to start this, but I don't have the talent to do a good job. Too bad someone dosn't start a logo free/animation free/bug free site that tries to reach not only us movie/TV buffs but also the general public...

Something that would have snail mail, email, and phone/fax info for TV networks in the viewers general area...

I really hate those logos. Thye make me mot want to watch tv at all. It seems every channel is doing some type of banner ad at the bottom of the first few seconds of every show. Didn't they recently shorten each show's running time so they could run more commercials? Why can't they limit the promoting of other shows to the commercials? Don't people see enough commercials?

Hopefully, since I didn't start this topic, I can post this...

I just started an Anti-Logo website / forums. It is Non-commercial, so I am hoping it is ok to mention it here.

It is meant to be a place to vent about logos, and to rally the tv viewers to help get the networks attention.

The URL is in my signature.

If you hate logos like I do, please drop by and post in the forums. Maybe we can even get someone from the networks to join and let us know their side...

GREAT! Hope you have better luck than logofreetv-usa.org, which didn't get enough support.
This crap has been going on for SEVEN YEARS now, since CBS fell victim to the practice in early 1998 followed by ABC a couple of weeks later. I don't know why viewers continue to tolerate it (I simply do not watch shows that have continuous logos, which means I currently watch little to no TV at all), and I don't know why the producers of shows allow their work to be ruined this way. This has made HDTV totally pointless- I would have bought an HDTV if the shows were bug-free, but since they aren't I won't be getting one until HD-DVD comes out, and if I have to buy a separate tuner I won't bother.

Thanks...

I think the problem is around because the average joe tv viewer is apathetic. I guess this means there are not enough people who are annoyed enough to make a difference. I hope I have better luck. The UK version of logofree tv seems to be doing well. I only wish/hope the U.S. viewers will rally. We need more people to speak up!

I was watching spike TV yesterday and suddenly a large head popped up and then a guy started repelling down the edge of the screen. It lasted about 60 seconds, the whole time the actual show was basically un-watchable. I have now vowed to not watch spike tv. This sucks because I loved MXC

Argh!!

I'd guess the increase has to do with the increase in TIVO-like devices. But, I agree.. it's totally annoying. At least they are getting quicker about putting shows out to DVD and not carrying all that crap over to the DVD versions.

/me *hugs his smallville on DVD*

My suggestion is to get some video caps of these screen caps and show people just what you're talking about. It'll help the uninitiated.

Well, they WOULD go away on the cable channels if people would STOP SUBSCRIBING! I've already been against cable for years because I do not want to pay for channels that interrupt shows with commercials; the addition of logos just made me hate it even more. Cable was originally supposed to give you things you couldn't get on regular TV and with NO commercials, but now it's mostly just more of the same with bugs, pop-up ads and tons of commercials.

I understand what you guys are saying but, unfortunately, I think you hit the nail on the head. Most people don't care about the logo. Personally, I can't understand how it bothers anyone enough to stop watching a show they like. Yes, it sucks but you gotta let some things go. Sweat the big stuff in life, guys:)

I tried to keep watching The Simpsons when the logo madness started, but it got to the point that it ruined some of the jokes and just didn't make it enjoyable anymore, and if you can't enjoy it what's the point?
I still have the last Simpsons episode I watched on tape, I'll have to post a screenshot- Homer winds up in a lighthouse and breaks it causing the light to go out, and they did the old cartoon eyes-in-the-dark gag. The whole screen should have been black except for Homer's eyes, but the Fox bug in the corner ruined it. That's what caused me to finally say screw it, I've had enough.

Travis, That is interesting. Does that mean the logo is a seperate signal? I am thinking it must be if your tv doesnt have the logo on the 4:3 image.

It would be nice if it is a seperate signal, or one that could be removed by the end user with a magic box or something.

If only ;(

It isn't that it keeps me up at night, or that i am sweating it...but it does take me out of the show i am wanting to watch. Spike TV and FX are the two worst. I don't watch those channels. I don't watch much of anything on TV now cept Battlestar Galactica. I just buy the DVDs. But here me now, if i get ads for cars or Coke, or pop ups on a DVD it will go back to the store!

You should have seen the gawd-awful Nickelodeon tv logos. Jimmy Neutron would come up at the bottom and change the channels for 30 seconds, then put it back on the show you were watching...only that the show was still going on while the ad ran.

And does anyone remember the Braves ad on TBS? It would throw a baseball on the screen and shatter the window, with a LOUD cheering sound. Scared the hell out of me sometimes.
