Since the search feature is down, here is a new thread with a quick update email I just got:
Dear Macross Preorderer,
Just a quick note to update you on the progress of the Macross project.
As of today, the restoration process is fully complete, and authoring of the
first 3 discs (out of 9) is underway. We have already received several
check discs for the first DVD, and are busy debugging the menus.
We are on schedule for an early/mid december release, and if we catch a
few breaks, it'll be out earlier.
If you haven't completely filled out your preorder form yet, please do so as
soon as you can. We need this information by November 1st.
Sincerely,
Robert Woodhead, CEO, AnimEigo

Passing the word out to those of you that are wondering if you are in limbo with your preorder. I received this today:
We have been unable to contact a number of people who signed up for Macross because their email addresses have changed or become invalid, and time is running out. We are attempting to phone those we have phone numbers for,but this is a slow process and we may not have time to try to reach everyone.
If you have signed up for the Macross set but have not received any Preorder Update emails, it is likely that you're one of the Lost Lambs we are trying to contact. If so, please access http://www.animeigo.com/lostlambs.txt and search for your name. If you find yourself, follow the instructions on that page and contact us.
Please redistribute this message as appropriate to other mailing lists/websites as we want to get this information out as widely as possible, but ask permission of the mailing list owner before posting it.

not so good news if you are looking to get this by Christmas.
http://www.animeigo.com/home2.html#1
its delayed until summer 2002. Gives me more time to save up and I'm glad they won't be rushing this out with possible defects. No mention of extending the sign-up deadline though.

Umm, actually it says nothing about 2002 for Macross.
Under the Macross page, under 10/19/01 it says early to mid December.
Under the latest news, the Macross 10/19/01 page is linked to for Macross info. Under Current DVD authoring status, it says shipping in December for Macross.

That is an ancient homepage with the Summer 2001 delay.... Wallet onslaught begins in December for Macross, and to make things even more brutal, KOR is now up for shipping in February, at a pretty reasonable $240 for 48 episodes on 12 discs.

You must input your information on their pre-order page prior to November 1st (I think it's "prior" and not "after"). That way they will have the information down. It's not the person who signs up to get theirs first. It's the people who already filled out the pre-order form with credit card number, shipping addy and all that junk that most likely will get theirs first (although not guaranteed).
Anyway, make sure to fill out that pre-order page pronto or else you won't get yours!!
The DVD covers and the box designs look sweet! :)

Does anyone know what the deal is with payment by money order? I've got the CC in there now, but with the horrid exchange rate and gouging by the credit cards, I'm debating a MO, but am wondering when that would have to be in by?
PS. Anybody want a good price on a used spleen? :)

You can pay with money order, I believe. I think if you are in Canada, you may still have to use International Money Order, but you can send it in now...or if you really want, pay by Paypal to AnimEigo. Either way, you will still have to pay regardless.

Jeff,
There are extra fees for getting money orders, are there not? Don't they give you the same exchange as say, a visa?

My bank account doesn't charge for Money Orders, since they come from a US dollar account. Credit cards always charge a few percent higher for the exchange, which isn't THAT much on $250 (probably $10 difference), but it also depends what the rate is on the day they do the exchange. I'll probably just do the cc for this one, but just wondered what the deal was with other forms of payment.

A quick update - Looks like we're barely getting them for Christmas:

A special note to those who had to cancel their preorders due to economic uncertainty. We've made a some extra sets that are being reserved for people in your situation, available on a "while supplies last" basis. You can get back into the preorder by either (a) completing your current preorder record or (b) if it's been deleted or cancelled, emailing Kim to ask her to put you back on the list. We'll keep these extra copies in inventory until the spring.

You just beat me to the update.
Most of us are getting them after christmas it seems. :frowning:
Regardless, I dont mind waiting a few days as long as the set arrives in good condition.

Got this email today. Just passing the word on more updates:

Dear Macross Preorderer,

We are about a week away from entering the "Hell of Shipping Box Sets",

and everything is on schedule.

Kim, however, is not looking forward to entering the "Hell of Answering

Calls and Emails Asking 'Where's My Box Set?'". Help maintain what little

sanity she still clings to by keeping the following in mind. Remember,

every minute we are not trying to get her to put down the chain saw is a

minute we could be shipping box sets!

1) Don't call to ask what the status of your box set is. Use the Preorder

Command Center instead. The possibilities are:

Preorder - we have your info but not your money.

Paid - we've gotten your paypal or check, or charged your card.

Shipping - it'll be going out the door today.

Shipped - it is on the way!

Please allow 2 weeks for delivery, it being the holidays. If the Preorder

Command Center says "shipped" and it has been 2 weeks, then it's time

to worry and call us. Also, please make sure that your shipping address

(below) is the final one, as changing it at the last minute is a real pain.

2) DO call us if your package arrives damaged or incomplete. Please

note however that there are no liner notes in Volume 9, only in 1-8.

Sincerely,

Robert Woodhead, CEO, AnimEigo
