Oohhh I'm so tempted to watch the whole thing right now, but I'm probably going to just wait and buy it tomorrow when it comes out. That way I'll get to watch it on my HT and not my crappy ass monitor. Oh what the hell, I'll just watch the first few minutes I guess [IMG] Thanks for the link!
    *UPDATE*
By tomorrow I mean "Tuesday", because it's still Monday here on the West Coast.

    Unfortunately, it's the dub.

WOW, this is the best looking anime EVER! I might get the DVD just for the great detail and SFX found in this flick.
Is it dub? It's my impression that the soundtrack is supposed to be a mix, i.e. the US Air Force guys speak english and the other people speak japanese...

    Actually, not really "dubbed".
The original film of Blood: The Last Vampire. Out of the 40 some minutes...about 60-70% of the film is in English. The rest of the film is in Japanese.
How do I know? I have the R2 DVD of this film. [IMG]

Not only did my Best Buy have it for $14.99, they had some with the free mini-DVD (which I believe is only available in the first 10,000).

Is this part a of a TV series in Japan? My copy indicates a running time of 83 minutes on the back of the case, but when I watched it last night, it was only 43 minutes long. I felt a little ripped off. Am I missing something? Was it just a typo? Both DVD Planet and DVD Empire indicate a running time of 80 minutes.

i picked this up and watched it last night!
    my very short review:
    • visual: thie visuals are simply amazing. the transfer looked really clean. i thought i detected some edge enhancement here and there, but overall very nice. there are certain scenes or visuals that blew me away (planes on the flight-deck, the train station, monster on rooftop, etc.)
    • story: the story, in my opinion, was just average. there wasn't really anything new or different. your basic vampire slays monsters angle.
    • sound: the sound production was awesome. all my speakers got a pretty good workout. there is one scene with some some pretty aggressive lfe action going on. the surrounds got a decent workout too.
    • extras: i didn't really get a chance to watch these yet. it looks like there's really only one extra - which is a making of type documentary
the running time is about 40 minutes for the story. i guess when the packaging said 83 minutes they were including all the extras - misleading in my opinion. i already knew this going into it...otherwise i think i would have been irked.
so overall, this is definitely worth adding to your collection. especially since it only cost 15 bucks!

Has anybody checked out the mini-DVD that's included? I just looked up my player on vcdhelp.com and it shows that it does not support mini-DVD. [IMG]
Update: The mini played just fine in my DVD/LD player (so I don't know what's up with the compatibility chart on vcdhelp.com). Anyway, the preview for The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb was...um...interesting.

The movie runs about 40 some minutes, the documentary runs about 30 some minutes which totals to 83 minutes that is listed on the R1 DVD.
The source that Manga used is the digital projection source material (this movie was showcased in Japan on some digital projectors), which is why you get none of the analogue stuff.
I wished Manga Ent. used a better cover.
The story of Blood takes part in a bigger story that involves a series of novels, playstation games, and something else, that ties it all in.
However, since it did so well in Japan, Production I.G. has decided to do a sequel. [IMG] [IMG] So we can expect it probably late next year or early 2003. [IMG]

I just watched this tonight. It was indeed 48 minutes long. The audio and video were amazing. I'm not that into anime, but I really dug this DVD. Can't wait for the sequel.

If they're touting this as some great animation, i wonder what theyre comparing it to? Pokemon?
If they are trying to get me to purchase this by showing that trailer, they wont get my money.
That animation was a joke! Ive easily seen better animation and detail on Akira!!
