Andy Griffith on DVD? (1 Viewer)

Anyone heard any rumblings about this classic series making it's way to DVD? I was just thinking that a commentary track with Andy Griffith and Don Knotts would be incredible. Throw in Ron Howard and Jim Nabors and you can't lose. This is one of my favorite TV shows and would like to see it. (Soon too, Andy, Jim & Don are getting up there in age.)

There is a Best of Barney and Best of 1963 episodes out.
They don't have any extras to speak of. Also, apparently could not afford the music rights to the theme song because it is not used.
It was released by a second tier company.

So I guess it was not given a season by season treatment. There are just some "Best of" discs floating around with no extras. Oh well, one can dream.

Just wanted you all to know that I tracked down another 3 Andy Griffith discs.
One from Madacy (2 discs, 10 episodes) and two from Front Row Entertainment (1 disc 4 episodes on each).

The 2 UAV Andy Griffith DVDs : Best of Andy & Best of Barney have 8 episodes on each DVD. Every single DVD release uses the same 16 Public Domain episodes. Stay away from the Madacy they are horrible! I own the 2 UAV discs and they seem to have the best quality picture, although a little editing has taking place .I also own the Laserlight Andy Griffith DVD which is unedited.

To be even more accurate, Madacy is to DVD what Gomer & Otis are to law enforcement (Barney deputized them in one episode).

I recommend the Best of Barney and the Best of Andy by UAV/Sterling. Both have eight episodes on them with good quality video. I got Best of Barney at Walmart for around $9. Not a bad deal at all. I just wish they had the original theme song.
