    ...just bother me!

Have you heard the radio commercials that imitate a "morning zoo" or talk format raving about that new show they just saw on (whatever TV network)?

The latest one is for "Daisy Does America" on TBS.

These things are really annoying me.

I hate them as well and make a point of changing the station every time they come on. I think it's the feeling that they think that we're dumb enough to buy it that pushes my buttons.

I also hate the McDonald's commercials where you feel like you're listening in on two women talking about their fruit and nut parfaits.

What drives me nuts is it's supposed to sound spontaneous.. but yet it sounds so scripted. Plus their voices annoy me. [IMG]

i agree, they are the worst.

i no longer watch or listen to the product pitch in commercials, i analyze them to figure out what method they are using to sell. i never realized how annoying most commercials are.

I constantly do that with commericals. I took a marketing class that taught me to understand the 'lingo' and the tricks they use. I often point out to my family and friends how they are trying to trick you.

My favorite is any diet pill that claims you'll lose 5 pounds "guaranteed". I always tell my friends "I can guarantee my method will make you lose 5 pounds. First I'll make you eat raw meat that has gone bad...the bacteria will give you food posioning, you'll end up sick and in bed for 2 weeks...during that time, you'll probably not want to eat anything, thus you'll lose 5 pounds - GUARANTEED!" "Why are you shaking like that? You've turned pale."

    "I'm on the Hastings diet."

    "Really? You look great!"

Why are radio ads so much more annoying than TV ads? Is it because people are usually doing other things (driving, working, etc.) while listening to the radio?

That's the thing. Most people assume they mean 5 pounds of fat, but that's not what they said - It could be 5 pounds of muscle for all you know, but that's not what enters your mind when you hear "lose 5 pounds". You assume they said 5 pounds of fat and then you believe that's what they said.

That's the key to advertising. Making you THINK you've heard something they didn't say.

The "Hastings Diet Revolution" is on!

Can I have the Infomercial rights, Mark?

I had food poisoning a couple of weeks ago. Nasty, nasty stuff.
