    ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
BRUCE CAMPBELL’S THEATRICAL FEATURE DIRECTORIAL DEBUT
    MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN

    DVD Features Uncut Theatrical Version
Along With A Cranium Full of Bonus Supplements

The Operation Starts October 4, 2005

TROY, MI – From the dark and humorous imagination of horror movie icon Bruce Campbell (“Ash” from the Evil Dead trilogy) springs a lurid tale of greed, betrayal, revenge…and a brain transplant gone horribly wrong. Anchor Bay Entertainment, the undisputed resource for horror on DVD, proudly announces the October 4th DVD release of Bruce Campbell’s Man With The Screaming Brain. Written, co-produced, directed and starring the quintessential “B-movie” actor with the killer chin, Man With The Screaming Brain will have heads everywhere rolling with laughter and “scarred” to death. SRP is $19.98 and pre-book date is September 6, 2005.

Fresh off the heels of a sold-out national theatrical release during the summer, Man With The Screaming Brain, a Sci-Fi Channel Presentation of an FWE Picture Co. and ApolloProScreen production in association with Creative Light Entertainment film, will be presented uncut on DVD in its original theatrical aspect ratio (1.77:1), enhanced for 16x9 televisions.

Written and directed by Bruce Campbell and co-produced with David M. Goodman (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), Man With The Screaming Brain tells the “cerebral” story of William Cole (Campbell), a wealthy American industrialist conducting business in Bulgaria who winds up with part of his brain replaced with that of Yegor (Vladimir Kolev), a former KGB agent and Bulgarian street hustler. The two couldn’t be more different but they share one thing – they were both killed by the same woman, the beautiful but deadly Tatoya (Tamara Gorski, “Xena: Warrior Princess”). Brought back to life by mad scientist Dr. Ivan Ivanov (Stacy Keach, “Titus”) and his hip-hop obsessed, dimwitted lab assistant Pavel (Ted Raimi, Spiderman and Spiderman 2), the capitalist and the communist must reconcile their differences to hunt down the beautiful gypsy freak who killed them both!

Man With The Screaming Brian played to sell-out audiences throughout its national theatrical run over the summer in more than 40 markets including Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, Washington DC, Seattle, Houston, Sacramento, Denver, Detroit, Cleveland and Salt Lake City. As a bonus to his legions of die-hard fans, Bruce Campbell made personal appearances for at least one showing in nearly every city sharing stories and answering questions about making the film.

Critics have also been shouting their praise of Campbell’s expert blend of tongue-in-cheek wit and physical comedy. IconsofFright.com said “Man With The Screaming Brain is entertaining from start to finish” and Daily Variety declared the film “winningly loopy.” Reminiscent of the horror classics of the 1950’s, perhaps the best description of Man With The Screaming Brain comes from Campbell himself: “If I were pitching it in Hollywood, I’d say it’s the ‘Out Of Towners’ with a brain transplant”.

When it comes to thoughtful and probing special features, the Man With The Screaming Brain DVD is a no-brainer:

    • Audio Commentary with Writer/Director/Star Bruce Campbell and Producer David M. Goodman
    • Brain Surgeons: Making The Screaming Brain – an all-new featurette with Actor/Writer/Director Bruce Campbell and Producer David M. Goodman

I've seen this movie (I've got a review of it here ), and while it's a very mixed bag, there's probably more good about it than bad, especially for Campbell fans. If viewers go in with lower expectations, and don't expect this to be "Evil Dead 4", they'll probably have a good time. The sheer entertainment value of the extras on the DVD will probably make this a worthwhile purchase.
