    ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT BRINGS

THE DIRECTORIAL DEBUT OF SFX MASTER ROBERT HALL TO DVD

TORONTO ON -- The make-believe monsters of cinematic horror are often born out of the grisly and painful experiences of real life. On August 9th, Anchor Bay Entertainment will release LIGHTNING BUG for the first time on DVD. The award-winning independent film, which traces the adolescence of an emerging special effects master, features Bret Harrison (“Grounded For Life,” “The O.C.”), Laura Prepon (“That 70’s Show”) and a skillful supporting cast in a coming-of-age story set against an ultra-conservative and often bizarre hamlet in the rural South. Bonus features on the DVD include; Luciferin: The Making of Lightning Bug Featurette, Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Robert Hall, Actors Laura Prepon and Ashley Laurence, deleted scenes, Kevn Kinney music video, outtakes and more.

LIGHTNING BUG is a wistful journey through the budding dreams and anguished realities of youth, cloaked in the semi-autobiographical tale of writer/director Robert Hall, one of Hollywood’s brightest special effects makeup stars. Bret Harrison stars as Green Graves, a young Alabama man desperate to escape the stifling grip of his rural confines. In a Bible-Belt town chock full of miscreants and misfits, Green finds escape and solace in his longing to create special effects creatures in Hollywood. Despite finding a kindred soul in a local girl with a sordid past, Green soon learns that sometimes the most frightening monsters aren’t always made of rubber and latex…

LIGHTNING BUG co-stars Laura Prepon as Angevin Duvet, his love interest and a girl with demons of her own. The film features an excellent supporting cast including Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser), Kevin Gage (Heat), Hal Sparks (“Queer As Folk”) and Josh Todd (frontman for Buckcherry). This film marks the screenwriting and directorial debut of Robert Hall, renowned for his makeup wizardry on such TV shows as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” and “The Shield” as well as special makeup effects for the upcoming theatrical release Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo and TVs “The Inside”.

I saw this in Best Buy this week and wondered if anyone knew anything about it.
I've never heard of it at all before. Didn't even know when it hit the local multiplex. On second thought, it probably didn't.
