Just read it while sitting on the john doing the business of nature's calling, and it's confirmed: Russell Crowe loves himself very very much. I'm sure he'll be very happy with himself.

I haven't read it. But as long as he keeps pumping out terrific performances, he can be stuck on himself from now until judgement day. Is there a link to the article?

I must have missed something. I read the same interview, and what I saw was a guy who's serious about his work, has a sense of humor, and isn't afraid to say what he thinks.

Not many people can handle the intensive focus to which the press and public subject movie stars. I thought he came off pretty well.

From all the talk show appearances I've seen of him, he seems to have a good sense of humor and is a modest person.

It's hard to tell what someone is like from reading an interview. A few months ago, many people were saying how Will Smith had a big ego from reading his Playboy interview. It turned out they were wrong.

I remember people talking about how surly and mean Crowe was and that he had no sense of humor. Then I saw him on a couple of talk shows and he was laughing and telling jokes. Everytime I've seen him he seems to be in a good mood with a good personality. Who knows. I don't know him so I can't say.

I saw him on Leno, he seems like a total A-Hole.

I read it as well. I enjoyed it. People are confusing self-confidence with arrogance. I can appreciate anyone who'll tell Miramax to F*** Off. He just has strong opinions, and isn't afraid to share them.

    Just my take.

    Take care,

    Chuck

When I saw him on Leno he seemed pretty funny, and cool. What was it about him Ryan? Just curious. Maybe it was different Leno shows.

As to whether he's an a-hole, does anyone really care? He's one hell of an actor, and since I don't know him or hang with him, I couldn't care. I'll pay to see him since that's the only thing riding on him, enjoying his performance.

Nevermind then. Too many people take things personally. The original thread mentioned nothing about his personality. It's about an interview in a mag. It was just a statement Ryan.

Actors are not Saint. They're good one and bad one out there. I feel sorry for them in a way that they have to live in a glass house, everything they do became public but I'm pretty sure they all know that's part of the package.

I would like to find a link with a sample of his handwriting. I could give a good indication of how vane he really is. I haven't yet read the article so my comment is not ment to support the opinions offered above.

    Mitty-
Just to point out, I didn't know Hitler, but
I am sure he was a jerk, to put it mildly.
We can evalutate people based on their actions.
Granted, we only see Crowe's public persona,
so maybe we are not in a place to judge.
Also, we are seeing him through the film of
whomever's eyes, camera, and words...so it is tainted.
Personally, I dig the guy. But anyone who
would perform like he did in The Sum of Us
and then follow that buy saying the only thing
that disappointed him about their tell of Nash's
life for A Beautiful Mind is that
    they omitted Nash's bisexuality.
Well, that put him on my list of "cool actors,"
even if I don't know him.

From what I've seen, I like the guy. But what do I know. Hey Mark, can I have your Darth Vader mask?[IMG]

Actually, he comes across as a straight shooter, and very confident in his abilities. But he can be irritating, and doesn't have much tact. This can be endearing to some, and offputting to others. In his line of business, it can be miscontrued as being pompous and full of himself when it can be explained as being uncompromising. Maybe he's learned that you can't please all of the people all of the time, but works in a profession that find it helpful if he could be all things to all people.

It's kind of funny to read his views of past directors he's worked with, and how he labels them if they can't produce the answers or dialog of the project they are working on. Crowe definitely comes across as a thinking man's actor, always striving to get at the essence of the character, and works to get it on the screen, rather than hoping the director knows what he/she is doing.
