Well I'm getting closer to deciding I'm gonna build my own sub. If I do, then I might as well build one for my parents while I'm at it. They might go for building the same thing I am with a Tempest and an AVA250, but I think they might want to go cheaper. So the question is what amps suitable for powering a Shiva or Tempest are available that cost less than the AVA250 (can be plate or rack mount). The tough part is their room requires a bad placement of the sub so a variable 0-180 phase adjustment like the AVA250 has along with a gain control would be nice. Any ideas?

Parts Express offers the model 300-800 for 159.90. The amp is 150 watts compared to 250 for the Adire and has a 0-180 reversal switch not variable like the Adire.
If you really wanted to drop in price there is always the 300-792 which is 156watts @ 4 ohms at .2THD. It runs $100.
Unless you really wanted to be around the $100 price point I think the Adire AVA250 is your best choice.
