I'm trying to put together an A/V network for my apartment. The video isn't too problematic, but the audio is driving me nuts. I'm not entirely sure if the hardware I think I need is available.
The apartment will have one zone consisting of 4 or 5 speaker pairs in various rooms. I wish to be able to adjust the volume to each pair individually. Given the varying wattage of the speakers involved, this is basically a requirement; my first test with a all-in-one receiver and simple on/off speaker splitter produced intolerably lower volume in the big speakers.
Would I need to split the incoming line-level signal to a separate amp for each speaker pair (ugh)? Or can I get a splitter that can adjust the volume to each outgoing line (preferable)?
Thanks a bunch.
