    Hello everyone!

I have an H/K PA-5800 (5x80W) driving the center and surround L/R speakers while the H/K PA-2000 drives the main Front L/R speakers. I like the setup as is however I'd like to know whether not using the other channels will damage the PA-5800? Or will the channels now in use degrade over time since these are being used more than the other channels? Does it matter whether the other channels on the amp (PA-5800) are used at all? I'll appreciate some feedback. Thanks

No, it doesn’t hurt not to use a channel. As long is it isn’t getting an input signal it’s just sitting there.

Sound degradation with the used channels vs. the unused should be a non-issue. I have amps that are at least 15 years old and they’re still going strong. More than likely you will sell or upgrade equipment long before this becomes an issue.
