Already? Many online store have it Out of Stock and some say it's Discontinued/Moratorium.

Urgh! Is there a website to check this?

Image-Entertainment.com shows that American Pie:Ulimate Edition, Unrated and R-rated versions, are both discontinued. So, yep, it's true.

How can that be? Weren't the Collector's Editions, (Unrated and R-rated), discontinued when the Ultimate Editions, (Unrated and R-rated), first went on sale? If true, that means that "American Pie" is no longer in print on DVD.

They were forced to pull them since they weren't really the ultimate edition [IMG]

What other collection is there? I thought this was the only set with both movies.

No, it's not a box set of the two movies. The Ultimate Edition of American Pie came in a transparent, plastic case ala Legend, and was a two-disc set, unlike the Collectors version, which is one disc. Universal also released Ultimate Editions for Meet Joe Black, Patch Adams, Notting Hill and the aforementioned Legend.

I guess the "Collection" in the thread title confused me. I guess he meant "Ultimate Edition", not "Ultimate Collection"?

In any event, can you tell me if the version in the collection is the Ultimate version or Collector's version, or something else?

If true, does that mean that current or future Ultimate Editions will become out of print also.

I also wish that studios would announce when they are going to pull something from the market so that consumers have notice and therefore the ability to purchase them before they become out of print. That way the studios wouldn't be pissing off a lot of consumers who wasn't able to buy them before they went out of print because they thought it was or will still be available.

I said "Ultimate Collection" meaning both "Rated" and "Unrated" Editions. Sorry for the confusing. And too bad they're gone. All versions of APie 1 are gone.

Is the American Pie 1 that you can still get in the box set the ultimate edition version, or a different version?

Yah...I'm not a big fan of Universal's Ultimate Editions. They boast 2-discs sets...and that's a little misleading, because the second disc is generally the film in pan & scan...not really a worthwhile extra.

Legend's UE is pretty good (no fullframe).

Agree. The only Ultimate Edition that seems to be worthwhile is Legend. The others have disappointed me.

Say what you will about the movie, but the Meet Joe Black: Ultimate Edition isn't too bad. The film on the first disc, in both Dolby Digital and DTS, and on the second disc, they've got 1934's Death Takes a Holiday (the entire film!) that MJB was remade from, along with a few MJB extras.
But the packaging still sucks. [IMG]
