I watched this for the second time last night, and I can't believe how funny I found it. I saw it in the cinema and thought it was absolute rubbish. Big turnaround. There are so many funny gags. Its characters also seem much more real than in the first film, probably because the character development of the first film has been built upon by the sequal. A few great lines:

"I can taste the bubbles. Actually I can't."
"I'm filling up to the brim."
"Go jerk off." "Unnecessary, tantra teaches you to hold an orgasm, in preparation for an ultimate moment, when you release it on the world."
"Put up your hands. Both of them." "I can't, I'm glued, I'm gluuuueeed. Sorry"
"(shouting) My stock-pile is WASTED and I look ridiculous."

I liked it.
Then again, what do I know, I hated HTF favorites like Eight Legged Freaks and Resident Evil, but loved Van Wilder. :)

American Pie 2 was pretty funny. Haven't gotten a chance to watch it for the 2nd time.

And I would just like to say that Van Wilder kicks ass, havent seen E.L.F. or Resident Evil yet.

Is this a praise thread Paul or are we allowed to trash this "film"?

Sounds like a certain poster's negative opinion about American Pie 2 has already been well-documented in at least two threads such as this one.:)

Van Wilder, why oh why did that have to be brought up again. Just as the nightmares stop, they will be coming back to haunt me.

I had loads of fun watching it. But then again I was with a whole bunch of guys. I am not sure I would have liked it if I was by myself...

I enjoyed it more than the first one. I felt the character development was better, the humor was even funnier, and the film seemed to have a bit more heart than the first one. Oddly enough, others I've talked to called it "degrading," "crass," and "soft-core porn." One of those who made this last claim was someone who loved the first one, so I don't understand their disgust with the second one.

I haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet, so I haven't seen the unrated version. We just haven't been in the mood for that sort of comedy.

I had the exact opposite reaction that Paul did. I watched it in the theater the first time and loved it. I bought the DVD and I couldn't remember why I liked it in the theater. I still don't know why.

I loved American Pie 2 when I saw it on opening night. I thought it was right on par with the 1st one. The additional screen time to Stiffler was great. Now if I could just figure out a way to edit out all footage of that whiny ass bitch friend of theirs that is in love with Tara Reid's character.

Big rumor today is that Hugh Grant is attached to star in American Pie 3. He has worked with the Wietz brothers before, so this may not be so far fetched.

American Pie 3 will allegedly ditch all of the female characters and follow the boys on a bachelor party weekend.

That's fine by me, but I hope at least Alyson Hannigan would be in the film. She was pretty much the only girl who was funny in the films.
