I know little about this movie, only having seen it once a long time ago. My question pertains to a George Lucas quote over on the IMDb, where he expresses anger at Universal for editing the movie without his permission. Is this edited cut the version that is available on DVD, or does the DVD contain George Lucas's original version?

In 1978 when Star Wars mania was sweeping the country, Universal (feeling stupid that they passed on Star Wars) attempted to cash-in once again on Graffiti and G.Lucas' fame (not to mention the cast's newfound fame) by re-releasing it with George's cut restored, and a new stereo soundtrack remix. This is the version on the dvd, except for a new skyline in the opening shot. George added this for the dvd, so the dvd is George's final cut (I hope).

Thanks, Mick! Armed with that knowledge, I may have to seek it out tomorrow.

BTW, I saw a DVD at the store that had Lucas' original Electric Labyrinth short (the original THX-1138). Anyone seen the short/DVD? Is it worth getting?

In addition, this is one of the most enjoyable films ever made (IMHO). I remember when it first came out, people were going back to see it multiple times, and its first run played continuously for about 4 or 5 months here....

Great movie...great DVD. There are no complaints here.

I watch it every now and then, just because it's so much fun!
