People amaze me.
Speaking as someone that watched the construction and destruction of the towers, and saw them every day on the way home from work, I have to say that even with all this imagery I can't imagine renaming "The Two Towers".
Well, someone's not so open-minded.

Some people are stupid. Jackson is using the title to gain more recognition from the public so it makes more money? In the immortal words of Dr. Evil "Riiiigggghhhhhttt".

Did you notice how many "false entry voided" messages there were? Obviously many people are not taking this petition seriously and kudos to them.

But as for the ones who took it seriously and think that Mr. Jackson renamed the title for his own "sick" pleasure, then they do not know that the novel was originally published decades ago.

Mark,

When I first looked at it, there weren't a lot of "false entries". I just checked again now and I was amazed at how many there were. I'm guessing this isn't being taken seriously. Thank God!

This is very silly! There are 1087 "signatures" at the moment, but when I actually looked at the pages, the vast majority of them say "false entry voided"!! I didn't count the actual signatures but there are probably less than 50. A bunch of those have smart-ass, what-a-dumb-petition comments.

I was gratified to see that on the front page, petitiononline.com added a comment of their own, telling the truth about the name "The Two Towers." Good for them!

Ladies and gentlemen, the definition of an imbecile.
This moron obvious has no knowledge of the movie, nor the book.
It's people like this who get films censored and banned...

I think this title has been around longer than the twin towers. And he certainly didn't use the title to gain money from the tragedy. That's just ignorant.

Ohh, speaking of censorship, anyone down for a Tolkien book burning party?
Hell, we'll throw in Fahrenheit 451. No use knowing the future, right?

of course, the petition itself could just be a joke...
I'd thought of that, but if it were I don't think there'd be so many "false signature voided" messages.

But I like one person's comment: "Can you please also tell the police to change the emergency number from 911? That bothers me as well."

The emergency services number is pronounced nine one one

The tragedy on September 11, 2001 is pronounced nine eleven

Haha, I wouldn't get too riled up about this.. I saw this posted on some msgboard a while back by the guy who supposedly started it. It's all a big joke, although a pretty moronic one.

I've both "nine eleven" and "nine one one." Apparently, "The eleventh of September" is just too difficult for radio broadcasters to say. :)
This whole petition is absurd though.

OMG, what an imbecile. However, working in retail, I come in contact with many stupid individuals throughout the day. So not much really surprises me anymore. It truly is asinine and frustrating.

I've heard Nine One One too Joseph. I've always said it "September Eleventh" though...

Either way, damn stupid petition. Plus PJ already said that he won't rename it.
