I just received the Axiom M2i's the other day.
Sounds fantastic so far. The only thing I am not sure about is the vocals, not to clear. I am looking into the Ascend CBM's
    will I notice a difference?

I haven't heard the M2s but the Ascend 170s are usually considered comparable with the M22s. The 170 is known for its clarity on vocals. Get a pair and compare them for yourself and sent the one you like less back.

Vocals and accurate midrange are one of the CBM-170's strong points. I have not heard the M2's, but I have heard the M22's, and I'm sure you will hear a difference with the CBM-170's.

They do seem a little bright at high levels and a little
tough on the ears after a while.
    But still great speakers.
I have tried all different types of music. I really notice it missing something on the vocal end listening to Sade(hey my girlfriend loves her)Great voice to test speakers out to

Are you using a subwoofer with these? What are you driving them with? My experience was they were a very accurate speaker, but needed to be crossed over at 80hz in order to sound their best. Vocals are one of their strong suits, if you like accuracy, but again these aren't full range speakers. If you don't have a sub, I think you'd be better off with the Ascends.

How do you have them placed? This will also affect the sound.

Yes I do have a sub, crossed over at about 90, should I adjust it? I had thought through these forums that Ascends were much more accurate for vocals
I am using a Yamaha receiver
The placement might be a little suspect, but not too bad

Could be the Yammy Axiom combo since Yamahas are thought to be bright.

well thats too bad. Not getting rid of the Yamaha its good to go for now.
Still sounds great dont get me wrong, just not crisp on the vocals.
    what exactly does "bright" mean
sorry I am new to all this

What exactly does crisp mean? I can assure you that the M2is I tried sounded "accurate" on vocal, which means they were not coloring the sound. Given their price I thought they were amazing (or should I say irrespective of price) and I have owned some multi-kilobuck speakers over the years.

Well when I listened to the Triangle Titus and the Mirage M50? the vocals sounded very clear, hard for me to describe since I dont know the lingo
The axioms were nice just not what I had expected

The highs are difficult to listen to for long w/o becoming annoying. IMO.

Did you hear them placed in the same position as the Axioms, using the same source material in the same room? Rooms can have a greater affect on the sound that you might imagine.

Chris, I’d try a few things, like room placement, using different crossover points and anything that comes to mind. But in the end, if you are not satisfied, it is your ears and listening preferences and not any of ours.

I have not heard these speakers, but depending on how much time you have left on your money-back guarantee, I would suggest seeing if you can arrange to listen to both the Ascend 170s and the Rocket ELTs, which are more or less in the same price range.

These speakers are different from each other, so I’d try to audition both.

Curtis might post again as to the Ascends or you can check the Ascend Forum for a contact.

Check audioenvy.com for the Rockets or the AV123.com website for the Rockets.
